Nest Building with both Red Tailed Hawks Jan 22, 2010

Oh what a beautiful morning. They are back and rebuilding the nest. Saw both of the red-tailed hawks and they look wonderful.

I arrived at work this morning to have a wonderful treat. The red tail hawk was sitting in the nest tree, she then flew across the street and then over to where I was standing by my car. She did two complete soars around me very low - wish I had the camera, then flew back to the Frank Faubert woods. She couldn't get settled and went from tree to tree to tree.

Oh man it was so beautiful watching here soar right above me.

I am now extremely hopefull that they will use the old nest.

On my way home I passed by the old nest. There sitting on a light stand was the female chowing down a bird. She looks very healthy.

Adult sittin in Frank Fauberts Woods Dec 16, 2009

A sighting of one of the adults was seen by Carol P. He was in Frank Faubert woods sitting in a tree.

The nest has been worked on in the last week. Most of the leaves have been kicked out. Also some scraps of garbage was seen on the edge of the nest.

I am very hopefull that this means the red tail will again keep the nest at the SCC for 2010.

Adult Red-tailed hawk soaring above the parking lot

I was so happy to get an email from Bob at work saying they saw the red-tailed hawk over the lazyboy store. When I was leaving work there was the red-tailed hawk soaring around and around then finally doing a tuck dive towards the construction sight.

Man do I miss seeing my hawks.

Red Tails at Work Red Tails at Home August 20, 2009

I was ready to go to work and I can hear the juvenile red tail crying in the tree across the street. What to do. OK so I looked. Couldn't find him because he was in the neighbours yard and it was too early to ask permission to go there. He was crying for a good 15 min and I know exactly were he was.
Got to work to find out I just missed the juvenile red tail attacking the Canada goose in the front yard by 5 minutes (wouldn't you know it). the youngster has been seen on the hydro poles, flying above work and on the cranes at the construction site. So they are close to the office still.
Arrived home to see the juvenile hovering over the house down the road - he was motionless for a good 2 minutes then dove straight down. What a sight. Must have been successful as he didn't come back up in the air.

Man you gotta love this.
