The female was just sitting on the lamp post near the civic centre. Looked like she had a full crop. I have seen her here before.

Female Red Tail hawk sitting in nest FEb 22, 2010

At lunch the female red-tail hawk was sitting in the nest. She worked on the nest for 20 minutes flying into the woods, breaking off branches and sticks. You could see her moving branches and sticks around inside the nest. A couple of photos from today.

Red Tailed Hawks flying around the building and nest Feb 19, 2010

Over the past week I have seen the pair of red tail hawks soaring around the office building and by the nest. Most days by the time I get down to take a photo they have left the area. Days that I have not been at work Jack has seen them as well.

It looks like they will be nesting again by the office.
Laying of the eggs will not take place until the middle to end of March.

Closer to that time they will start to spend more and more time by the nest.

Red tail checking out last years nest Jan 20,2 010

I arrived at work this morning to have a wonderful treat. The red tail hawk was sitting in the nest tree, she then flew across the street and then over to where I was standing by my car. She did two complete soars around me very low - wish I had the camera, then flew back to the Frank Faubert woods. She couldn't get settled and went from tree to tree to tree.

Oh man it was so beautiful watching here soar right above me.

I am now extremely hopefull that they will use the old nest.

SCC female adult eating near the nest. Jan 17, 2010

On my way home I passed by the old nest. There sitting on a light stand was the female chowing down a bird. She looks very healthy.

Shots of her eating on the stand.
