2013

The Red-tailed Hawk family has succeed in having two eyas. Very hard to see them but I can hear them and see them flapping around high in the nest.

Red Tail Hawk hits window again at work on Wed - April 22 2010

On Wednesday at work again the red tailed hawk ran into the office windows. The female was on the nest.

Today on my day off work I went to the nest site to watch for the 2 hawks. Unfortunately Janice Murray and I only saw one hawk on the nest. The second one no sign of him. Also went for a drive around the area - to look at his normal hang outs and no sign of him.

Will hope to see him on Friday.

Red Tailed hawk hits office windows - April 20, 2010

I arrived at work today to find out that the red-tailed hawk went head first into the front of the building windows. Apparently it hit many times. Not sure if it was seeing its reflections and attacking it, or whether there was food on the top of the building and it was trying to catch it.

I watched all day to see if the 2 hawks were around but only saw one in the nest. By the way it is the male in the nest not the female. I am sure all if ok but will be happy to see both together.

Nest sitting makes for a very long day april 19, 2010

Over the past few days I have seen both the male and female red-tailed hawk. The female is always sitting unless the male comes in to the nest. The exchange of duties is very fast so if you do not see the male come in - no shots. It will be nice to see the little ones. 4 Turkey Vultures also went over the nest today.

Soaring photos again April 14, 2010

At lunch I decided it was too nice to stay inside. Went and sat on the bench to eat when out of the nest flies the red tail hawk. Only had time for a couple of shots and all in the wrong setting. Love the sun but hard to get decent shots. That was all I saw of the hawks today.

Finally a couple of shots of the red tail hawk in nest April 13, 2010

I took this shot very quickly during the exchange of position on the nest. This is the male sitting on the eggs and the female soaring around the nest. On a nice day like today the female could also be seen from the 5th floor window looking around.
She was taking alot of interest in the kinglets and sparrows landing on branches by her nest.

Female Red Tailed Hawks soaring April 12, 2010

I took a lot of photos today. As I arrived the male arrived - took over the nest and she flew out - circled around me for a good minute (you can tell it is the female by the extra feathers at the talons). At lunch again the male came in to take over the nest, I was able to get a couple of shots in the nest where she was fussing around the branches etc. I will post the shots tomorrow.
On a nice sunny day they were both soaring around. 3 turkey vultures went over the nest today as well. The red tails did not seem concerned.

Female Red -Tailed Hawk so low in nest -brief flight April 7, 2010

Was lucky to see the male flying by - and just got a couple of shots. The female is deep in the nest and it is very hard to see here even from the 5th floor window.
