Red-tailed Hawk eyas branched

Today as I walked to bank I saw movement where nest is. Saw a flash of wings. Until I looked at photos I didn't realize it was a eyas. See the rust color on chest and small face. Hopefully they will fledge in woods

Bob P and I went out at lunch to see if we could see the Red-tails and the nest. Saw one adult and the nest. Within a week you won't be able to see a thing with the tree coverage. Thrilled to have a visual on them today.

Surprise we have baby Red-tails

Today I was exploring the woods and looking for new flowers. To my surprise two Red-tails circled above me. I quickly left the area and parked across the street. Sure enough one Red-tail landed. Went back over to see the adult feeding young. Good news. Ann

nest being built

Wonderful news. Saw the Red-tailed hawk building nest today. It Will be as wonderful well protected and invisible nest in a few weeks. A flash of red, a quick view of nest building, then gone. Thrilled to see them back again.

Red-tailed Hawk Juvenile - Released after care with Toronto Wildlife Centre

One of my favourite things to do is volunteer with the Toronto Wildlife Centre. Thanks to Chris M a few years ago I have become more and more involved with them. Today I was asked to release a beautiful juvenile Red-tailed Hawk. This is my favourite bird. Thrill to see this lovely hawk fly out of the box, and land in a nearby tree. He looked around and then flew to the next branch up. Once again he flew up. I stayed in my car once he flew with the window down. I watched him sit on the branch, preen, poop and look around at the other birds. Chick-a-dees arrived but left very quickly. He took one more flight and continued to preen. Thank you TWC for saving this wonderful hawk. You may have remember my last Red-tailed hawk that unfortunately did not make it - very similiar problem. Nice to see a juvenile that was starving make it and is back in the wild. This hawk was located close to my work nest. It is highly possible that this was one the SCC Red-tailed Hawk young from 2012. Another chance. Another great rescue by Toronto Wildlife Centre.

So it looks like we may have another nest somewhere in the area being built. Today at lunch while sitting at window drinking coffee a red-tailed hawk flew by with a branch in talons. she circled the the building. tried to follow her but no luck. Here's hoping. Ann
